Leadership

Rick Mitchell

President of the Board

Serving in his fifth year on the Board as a Director of Friends of Cardington, Rick has been on the Board since being appointed to fill a vacancy at the end of 2021. He currently serves as the President of the of the organization and Chairperson on the Wine & Arts Festival Committee. Rick is an Army Veteran who moved back to Ohio after leaving the service. “Home is where my family is.” While being born and raised in “that State up North” his family’s roots have always been firmly placed in Southwestern Ohio. He and his husband, Jerry Newell, moved to Morrow County to open their Winery, Bunker’s Mill, in 2016. Rick’s motivation for being a part of the Cardington Community, and Friends of Cardington, is to give back to this Community as much, or even more, if possible, than they have given to Rick and Jerry since moving here.

Dawn Ruehrmund

Dawn Ruehrmund has called Cardington home her entire life and takes great pride in her roots here. A 1991 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln Schools, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene College in 1995 and returned that same year to give back to her hometown as a third-grade teacher at Cardington Elementary where she continues to teach today.

Dawn’s love for her community shines through in her service as vice president of the Cardington Public Library Board and her active involvement at Cardington Nazarene Church. She and her husband, Troy, are blessed with two grown children, Cade and Tess, and cherish the strong family and community connections that make Cardington special.
